Living Proof

I almost forgot about it..
One of the organizers of the Mayworks festival finally sent me a photo from last years 90th anniversary of the Winnipeg General Strike, where I did a performance especially for the Strike w Greg Hanec on Trumpet. There were about 300 people marching and it was good time. and that is all.

BINGO!

So I was watching "How to make it in America" last week(my new favorite show, and probably the only show on cable television eye can sit through beginning to end) and I remember a quote from one of the characters telling this young self-employed business man that "everyone's got great ideas, but not everyone can bring those ideas to life, so instead of telling me what you can do, show me what you have done..and THEN we'll talk!"

While searching for some inspiration, I stumbled upon this photo of a friend of mine, (Donna Poonz!). Instantly drawn in, I looked at it a bit more, and went straight to the paint. tried doing a portrait, straight brush, no guidlines, no exacto-mundo proportions. so It ended up turning into something else..

Half way through painting, a monkey face took its place..and studying the photo furthermore..taking note of her Donnas 'thinking-like pose' A lightbulb then appeared (above the monkey). I felt it was only right that he have monkey wrenches for hands tp representing the mechanical "WORK" needed in order to produce those genius plans. The rest was magic.

The main concept is..It's one thing to have a brilliant idea, but you gotta put in work to make them dreams of yours happen. ( A play on that quote)
Ya Digs?

moving ON!!!...

prisoners of love

prisoners of love
prisoners of tough love
prisoners of no sweet embrace
no compassion
no hug
no "hey how was your day?"
no conversation
no exchange
prisoners of bad role models
who bottle their pain
and walk away
from ongoing problems
which grow rotten and old
prisoners of diseased mindstates
with poorly damaged souls
Listen close..
us young caged birds sing
because our wings wont flap
freedom trapped
under the same roof
where love compassion and truth
dont interact
money is everything for some
while for others..
money is the one thing
that can knot bail them out
prisoners of love
dig deep
the key is within reach
please release us NOW
we are living in
an INcorrectional facility
filling our hearts in
with all the awful parts of our history
we need to treat each other differently
so we can start healthy and fresh
with love
unrestrained
unafraid to undress..
that bullet proof vest
holding us prisoners
framed
under arrest
savour what is left
of the righteous choices
we are all still capable of
dig deep
the key is within reach
please release us

Two is the lucky number

Hooray, productivity wants to play with me again!

I did some art on my friends Munny. It was quite horrific to begin with, but I think it looks alright.

Second is "Rielism" a custom record for T.J Blair of the Magnificent 7's.

send an e-mail to scenereo@hotmail.com for any inquiries on custom work or if you just want to check out what I'm working on.

Daipoor

Me did a workshop with the kids at River Heights. They are raising money to build a school in UDaipur? (India) one that values equality among both female and male students. They tell me that its very traditional, in that most schools are predominantly male, while females are to stay at home and do the cooking, cleaning, and whatnot. We spent a morning discussing ideas to create a logo that represented their mission. In the end, this was what we came up with. The wings symbolize freedom, as well as their school. Ecole River Heights Hawks. Just wanted to share.

Catch me if you can

mommy whats a gravedigga?

How it WAS is not how it IS
now a days kids are having
kids that are having
fits about how god don't exist
+Plus+ they be asking me
some real dumb shit like:
"what is this dusty black disk?
what does it do?'
eye drop the needle like a clue
thinking bout...
how long before they'll lose
interest to a brand new brand
of something not-so in depth
as this old school jewel
